red triangles

Red Triangles explores how repeated triangular frames and tensioned knitted surfaces can form a spatial assembly. Red and white striped membranes span the dark framework, each surrounding a central opening. Their curved edges contrast with the straight rods, revealing how the textile stretches between attachment points.

The modules connect into a folded field of peaks, valleys, and apertures. Viewed obliquely, the surfaces overlap and create depth; viewed through their openings, they establish connections across the assembly. Light passing through the knit casts fine patterned shadows that extend its geometry onto the surrounding surface.

The project investigates repetition as a method of building complexity from a simple unit. The triangular boundaries establish a consistent framework, while the knitted membranes introduce curvature, transparency, and variation. Their stripes make the direction of stretch visible, connecting the surface pattern to the form it takes under tension.
