Lucky Stars (proposal)
Oloid explores rolling and deformation through the interaction of a flexible framework and a tensioned knitted membrane. Two intersecting oval loops establish the form, while red knitted surfaces stretch between them. The textile holds the loops in relation to one another and contributes to the assembly’s shape and stability.
When set in motion, the curved framework produces a shifting rolling movement. The knit deforms as the object changes orientation, while its stripes make variations in stretch visible across the surface. Pressing the assembly introduces another behavior: the loops bend and the membrane stretches, allowing the form to compress and recover when released.
The project investigates how geometry and material elasticity can generate movement within a lightweight structure. Its oloid-like configuration connects rolling, rocking, and compression in a tactile object whose form is understood through handling.
