PURPLE
Purple is a suspended installation created for the 2016 echo Art Fair in Buffalo, New York. Forty-five tensegrity modules cluster overhead, forming a field of star-like geometries that appears to gather and disperse as visitors move beneath it.
Each module pairs clear acrylic rods in compression with stretched spandex fabric in tension. This relationship gives the installation its structure and visual character: the rods define its angular geometry, while the fabric introduces color and softness. Suspended together, the modules create a larger composition whose overlaps and gaps change with the viewer’s position.
Installed in a former industrial plant, Purple draws attention upward into the building’s volume. Its shifting appearance invites visitors to read the work from multiple viewpoints and to notice how a repeated structural unit can produce a varied spatial experience.
